Dover Is Now An Official Monarch City

June 3, 2024 - City of Dover, Idaho

The city of Dover’s council met on May 9th, 2024 authorizing Mayor Eskridge to sign a proclamation designating the first week of June to be pollinator week encouraging all residents to participate in community activities that support and celebrate pollinator protection. Residents are also encouraged to plant native milkweed and other native and flowering pollinating plants, learn about the effects of pesticides and commit to a pollinator friendly regimen, and support your local organizations working to protect the environment for all to enjoy!

Dover is one of the few cities nationwide that has over 20% designated ‘open space’, which is home for many native plants, animals and beneficial insects. Last year, the Mighty Monarchs Conservation group planted seven Monarch Way Stations in the meadow area of Pine Street Woods located in Dover, with the support of Kaniksu Land Trust.

Congratulations to Dover for becoming the 2nd Monarch City in the state of Idaho making this important commitment to protect and support our monarch and entire pollinator population!
