REWILDING STARTS EARLY!
Trails & Tales gets little ones and their families outside for a summer story time and nature walk. KLT and the East Bonner County Library District collaborate to select children’s library books with a lesson in nature. Each week a new theme is woven through the stories and nature walk as children and families bond over books and connect with the land. Trails & Tales does more than teach teeny ones about nature and literacy, though.
EDUCATION - FULL CIRCLE! As KLT and Library interns work together to foster a love of reading and nature in young hearts, they also learn valuable skills. Through these internships, they get real work experience that will serve them in their future careers. Learn more about KLT’s Summer Conservation & Education Intern Program HERE.
Trails and Tales runs June through August 8th on Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m. at Pine Street Woods. The program lasts approximately one hour and snacks are provided. Please bring a water bottle and appropriate shoes/clothing for outdoor fun. Parent/guardian must remain with children throughout the program.
Read, connect, and get outside all year long at a local StoryWalk™! Combine family time, literacy, nature, and exercise with fun in the rain, snow, or sun! Pages from a children’s book are posted along a community trail, so that an entire story can be read together along the way.
The East Bonner County Library and Kaniksu Land Trust partner together to bring StoryWalks ™ to Dover City Park and McNearny Park (behind Better Together Animal Alliance). Stories are updated monthly at each location. Both trails are open year-round and are dog-friendly.
