WildCrafting is Kaniksu Land Trust’s signature after-school program in which students work with their hands on a variety of diverse traditional crafts. It is grounded in the principle that working with our hands is a valuable skill that many have forgotten. The program seeks to provide students with a safe place to explore their creativity and reap the many benefits of handwork and the satisfaction of a project done well.
WildCrafting - Timber Framed Furniture is the theme of the 2023 winter session. Students, aged 9-14, will get hands-on experience learning to craft a variety of projects such as benches, stools, tables, saw horses, arbors, and bookshelves with supplies from nature using hand tools.
Two session options available:
Mondays, 3 to 5 p.m. Jan. 18 thru Feb. 27 -OR- Wednesdays, 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 18 thru Feb. 22
NOTE: Students will be using sharp tools, including chisels, saws, hand planes, and knives. Students will need to be self-disciplined and capable of working diligently for extended periods of time.
Cost: $90 for 6 weeks of classes
Snacks and water provided each day.
All supplies and tools provided.
Maximum class size is 10 students.
